A Distant Ghost

Pardon my fascination with Del Shannon tunes of late, but I just can't stop listening to this new (1982 release) cd I got. So many great tunes on it.

Happenings

My brother Luke stopped by today with his old treadmill in tow. He has very graciously allowed me to use it. These cold winter days are making it very difficult to get out for my daily walks, something I had no issue with whilst living in Florida.

Below is a little pic of my makeshift exercise room. Please take note of the massive amount of weight on the bar, which is the amount I have to work out with until my messed up right shoulder gets better(which it slowly seems to be doing).

Also below is a pic of Morhardt Brewing/Galardi Fine Ales n Such latest creation, our first ever lager, Shuriken Lager. It's not too bad at all. This pic was taken in the basement bar of my friend Bruce "the Spruce Goose" Krause.

The Further Adventures of Kid Guzzi

Earlier in the week I spied the forecast for Saturday. High of 33F and cloudy with light snow coming later in the day. All week I hoped it would hold up and I could squeeze in a ride on my Moto Guzzi Stelvio.

This morning it looked like I had a window of about 3-4 hours where I could get out for a ride. I saw the snow on the radar but figured I could get out to the winter Open House in Marne, Iowa (75 miles away) and back before the snow started flying.

So I bundled up in my Moto Guzzi winter gear, hopped aboard the Stelvio and headed east. It was cold, yes, at 31F for most of the ride, but bearable.

Baxter Cycle was PACKED with cars and trucks but alas only two other bikes, an OLD BMW flat-twin and a late 90's Triumph Sprint.

I stopped for a few pics, including one of a very cool massive windmill farm along the interstate and also a few pics from a scenic overlook tower. Just as I got to the top of the tower, snow flakes started falling, and I was still prolly 20-25 miles from home. By the time I got home a good light snow was falling upon the Stelvio. Talk about good timing!
