Save our QUISP!

As I sat down for a Sunday afternoon snack whilst watching football, I perused the very informative box containing said snack, QUISP.

I quickly tired of reading the %'s of vitamins, minerals and what have you but became intrigued by the side panel. This contained a question and answer session with our hero, QUISP the outer space guy.

The interviewer asked "Hey QUISP, where have you been?"

You see QUISP has been off the market for many a moon and has only recently returned to a grocery store near you. As a wee lad I consumed copious amounts of QUISP, only to see it vanish one day.

Anyway, back on task. QUISP replied, in his always effusive manner that he was on Planet Q gathering necessary supplies for QUISP for consumption in Earth.

Ahhhhh, no wonder he was gone! Now it all makes sense!

But here's the troubling part. The interviewer next asks "Is it true you're back to stay?". Why even as such a question?! The seeds of doubt are now planted in my mind. Will QUISP leave me once again?

QUISP's answer lent no solace as he stated "Only if earthlings want me to...."

Look at the picture below! Those are QUISP's words, verbatim!! Is he setting me up for another fall? Dammit QUISP please don't leave again. I so enjoy your flying saucer shaped cereal, which incidentally tastes just like Cap'n Crunch but with none of the roof of the mouth cutting sharp edges!

So I implore YOU, my Earthling friends, to go to your nearest grocery store (Hyvee has it!) and find QUISP. Buy QUISP. Eat QUISP.

Help make QUISP stay for good this time. Thank you.

Chilly willy

Fall has arrived in Omaha. Gusty winds, cloudy, rain skies and cool weather arrived last night.

Never fear, as I now have my new Keurig "pod" coffee maker. This lil beauty works by inserting a coffee "pod", aka a "K-cup", upon which hot water is forced.

1 minute later...a piping hot cup of joe! Today I received an order of 96 new pods! I will be in caffeine heaven for quite a while now.

Lunch @ Doc n Eddies

Went to Doc n Eddies BBQ with Bruce the Spruce Goose for lunch today. Very tasty indeed!

Unchained Melody - Elvis

Recorded live June 1977. Two months before Elvis died. He sat down at the piano and played and sang this song. Quite a voice all the way until the end.

Sunday in Tennessee

Another AWESOME day of riding today. We started out at 9 a.m. from our motel in Robbinsville, NC in brisk temps, the low 30's.

Soon we were riding some utterly fantastic roads including the Cherohala Skyway with phenomenal views.

ALL THE PICS HERE ON FACEBOOK

Riding the Dragon and Moonshine 28

Saturday we rode from Rob's house in Cumming, Georgia to Robbinsville, NC, which is located near some great twisty roads, like the Tail of the Dragon and Moonshine 28.

Along the way we stopped at Rider's Hill, a really cool motorcycle dealership that happens to sell Moto Guzzis.

Once in Robbinsville, we checked into our motel, the Two Wheel Inn and unloaded our stuff. Next it was off to ride the Tail of the Dragon. This is the famous road with 318 curves in 11 miles. Kind of a motorcyclists paradise. It was certainly a lot of fun so we rode it twice :) Lots of challenging, tight curves that keep you focused.

On the way back to the motel we took an equally fun road, nicknamed Moonshiner 28. Again just curve after curve.

Dinner was at a nice local diner called Lynn's Place.

We wound down the evening sitting in plastic chairs in the motel parking lot and drinking a few good ales. More to come on Sunday as we ride the famous Cherahola Skyway in Tennessee.

Good morning Georgia

Up early today in anticipation of the riding we'll do in Georgia and North Carolina and Tennessee. We are going to stop at a Moto Guzzi dealer in north Georgia and ride the famous Tail of the Dragon...318 curves in 11 miles. A little "anxious" I guess you might say about that one.

Tonight we stay in Robbinsville, NC at Two Wheel Inn motel.

I hope to take a lot of pics today so stayed tuned for an update tonight.

Day 1 in Georgia

Bob, Andrew and I rode from Lake Mary, FL to Cumming, GA today, about 475 miles.

Not many pics and what I had are pretty boring. We have six bikes going on the ride tomorrow, 2 Kawasaki KLR's, a Triumph Tiger, A Harley Heritage Softail, a KTM and my Guzzi.

Crumpets and Jammie Dodgers

The friends I am staying with in Florida are Andrew, his wife Jane and their daughter Alex. They are British. Therefore we have some unusual (to me) foods about the house.

For example the other day I had my first ever crumpet. It's a little bit like our "english" muffins, but much better.

Tonight Jane made a delicious cheese/egg/onion quiche and we also had some snack cookies, which the British call "biscuits". One of these biscuits is called "Digestives" and the other is Jammie Dodgers. Mmmmm, Jammie Dodgers :=)

Keith the bike builder /racer

I had a chance to visit my friend Keith today. His awesome hobby is building and racing British motorcycles!

Unfortunately it was a short visit but I did manage to get a few pictures, seen at the PhotoBucket Link below.

Pre-ride checks

I spent a few hours combined last night and this a.m. checking/adjusting some things on the Stelvio for the ride to North Georgia tomorrow. It will be probably slightly less than 500 miles tomorrow.

I bought my tuning stuff with me, so I checked the balance on the throttle bodies (no adjustments needed), sent a new air/fuel map to the Power Commander and reset the throttle position sensor with the Technoresearch software.

Now will head out for a run to visit some folks, have lunch with pals and so on.

Later in the day I stopped by the office and got situated for T-TH at work. Then some ales with friends at Liam's and the new World of Beer!
