Deland, Florida is smokin'

Several brush fires are ongoing in central Florida currently, the windy conditions of late making them very difficult to contain.

One of the brush fires is a couple miles north of me and encroaching on I-4, currently within 1/8 mile of the interstate.

Here are a couple pics of the smoky haze in my neighborhood from the fires.

Must be a lack of moisture?

Yes, we are below normal on rain and also this is pretty typical of this time of year.

Man- that has some competition with the LA fog. Must be tough driving ( and breathing ) in it. In Kansas the farmers are now burning their fields ( mostly brome) so you have a constant haze in certain areas- especially when 40-100 acres are burning at once. They have to have a certain no. of people monitoring as they burn - all manned with rakes and such and big tanks of some kind of liquid. To each is own.
