Getting ready for Key West

Today I spent a little time putting a mount on the Breva to hold my radar detector should I decide to take it on the trip to Key West next weekend. I also mounted my larger windscreen and the 45 liter tailbag.

Here's a couple shots of the Breva with the bigger windshield in place and all the hard bags and my new radar mount :=) .....hot in my garage! can you see the temp on the Breva's LCD display?

Along with the two 29 liter sidecases I have a lot of room to haul stuff on the bike. When the Subaru lease expires in January 2009 I may just go car-less for a while and have only the Guzzi. We'll see...that's a long way off.

Anyway, myself and a couple guys from work and a friend of one of the guys at work are heading down on the motorcycles to Key West on Saturday June 16th, returning Monday, June 18th. It'll be Andrew on his 2007 Triumph Tiger , Bob on his 2006 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail, Rob on his 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 800(that's Rob's son in the pic) and me on the 2006 Moto Guzzi Breva

The trip down there is about 420 miles from Lake Mary, FL where we will meet Saturday a.m. (the Fiserv building). We will likely take Interstate 4 down to the Florida Turnpike and around Miami to Hwy 1 all the way to Key West.

On Saturday night we are staying at a (hopefully) neat place right in the heart of downtown Key West called Eden House. We'll spend Saturday evening roaming around downtown Key West, seeing some of the famous sights and stopping at some of the famous drinking holes I am sure.

Sunday we'll spend the day meandering back up the keys, stopping to explore a little bit here and there and spending the night in Islamorada. We'll be staying at a very low key (pardon the pun) place called the Key Lantern Motel

Monday we'll head back towards Orlando. I am really looking forward to the trip. These are good fellas to ride with. I have not been able to take a long ride yet (over 250 miles) on the Breva since I got it in December and am looking forward to testing her out on a trip of decent length and getting some more miles on her (only about 6,000 so far)

Hey, how was the Eden House? I'm thinking of staying there. I've heard it's a great hotel to stay at in Key West.

Eden House was a good place to stay. Close enough to all the Key west restaurants/bars to walk but situated in a quiet neighborhood. Just a nice, unassuming place. Nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable and friendly.
