I wanted to get back into shortwave listening recently but my Radio Shack (Sangean) radio is having issues and not receiving any shortwave signals. So I decided to buy a little portable radio so I could listen again.
Welcome, my new listening device, the Kaito KA1102. This little turkey is only about as big as a paperback book but as soon as I plugged it in and started scanning for stations I was hitting on broadcasts one after another! Excellent! Along with my Passport to World Band Radio book (like TV guide for shortwave) I am in for some good listening ahead!

What did that bad boy cost you?

Chris- Do you remember way back when we were in NJ . Dad bought you a short wave radio kit to put together and you did it- you may have been in your early teens- maybe not even that. You were always mechanically inclined. This radio you got sounds real neat. Goodluck with it!
It was pretty cheap...$74.73 delivered. I do recall putting together some kind of rudimentary radio kit when I was younger but the memory is kind of vague. I have always liked radio. A nice companion to listen to laying in bed.
Chris, if you want me to look at your old one...send it up. If I can get it fixed I'll send it back so you will have a nice backup unit.
Thanks Stal. Maybe I will send it off to the great plains one of these days :)
